Jazz roots (authentic jazz)

level 1: beginner

no experience of jazz roots or just a few. ( for the lindy hoppers, you’re dancing than less of 1 year).

Level 2: intermediate

You’re confortable in severals routines of Jazz Roots (Shim Sham, Jitterbug Stroll, …). You’re sometimes improvising.

Level 3: advanced

You’re learning easily new stuff, you know and dance several routines. you’ve got your own style and need challenge. You’re beginning to work technic stuff like spin, turn, jump, rhythm..

Level 4: advanced plus

You’re learning fast et playing with music. You know and dance main routine like big apple, trankee doo…You’re comfortable on technic like jump, spin, turn, slide, et other complex rhythm .

Taster

Registration is on the spot. Program is not definitive and could change these days

Charleston beginner/advanced:
Charleston is dance from the 20′s issues from the south of america. We’ll practice the solo version in different level.

Power Moves:
Advanced moves of jazz and charleston

Blues :
Blues is a slow dance with a lot of different energy level, we’ll practice the solo version.

Modern Jazz for Lindy Hoppers :
How to use the modern dance and their technical aspects for progressing and make more rich his jazz roots dance

Afro Jazz :
Afro jazz is a mix of brazilian and african dance, but also jazz too. Work on rhythm and share.

Jazz Rock :
Form the hip hop, it appears in the 80′s on funk music. Fast feet, little jump, slide…It’s one of the link between jazz roots and hip hop.

Percussive dancing :
Dance around body percussions, using thé entire body to mark the rhythm ; most popular show is “Stomp”, “Mayumana” ou “Gumboots”.

cake walk:
est une danse populaire née parmi les Noirs de Virginie. Dans le sud des États-Unis, les esclaves disposaient de rares moments de détente. Le dimanche, ils profitaient parfois de l’absence des maîtres pour faire vivre ce qui leur restait de tradition africaine. Ces moments si rares comptaient beaucoup pour eux. Parfois, les colons conciliants assistaient à ces rendez-vous et récompensaient les meilleurs danseurs par un gâteau, d’où le nom de cake-walk (« marche du gâteau ») donné à ce type de danse syncopée, en forme de marche.
